History
The Pakistan national cricket team is administrated by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and popularly known as Shaheens (Urdu for Falcons), Green Shirt, and Men in Green. Pakistan Cricket Team is a member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with One-Day International (ODI), Test matches, andTwenty20 International(T20I) status.
Pakistan has won 138 Test matches out of 428, lost in 130, and drawing 160. Pakistan was got the status for Test on 28 July 1952, which was a recommendation by India, and making their Test debut against India in October 1952 at Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, Delhi in which India won an innings by 70 runs.
It is an interesting fact that, before the creation of Pakistan in 1947, in the 1930s and 40s, many of the Pakistani Test players had played Test cricket for the Indian cricket team.
The team Pakistan has played 927 ODIs in which they won 486, lost 413, tied 8 with 20 endings in no-result. Pakistan has also won the 1992 World Cup and was the runner-up in 1999.
Pakistan hosted the 1987 and 1996 World Cups, in co-existence with other countries of South Asia, with 1996 final which was hosted at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Pakistan team has also played 151 Twenty20 Internationals, which is the most any team has played, in which they won 92, lost in 55 and tying 3. Pakistan was a winning team in the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 and were runners-up in the 2007’s tournament.
For the first time, Pakistan won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017, defeating India. Winning each of the major ICC international cricket tournaments team Pakistan has a distinct achievement which are ICC Cricket World Cup, ICC World Twenty20, and ICC Champions Trophy; as well as the ICC Test Championship.
On 1st May 2020, the Pakistani cricket team was ranked sixth in ODIs and fourth in T20Is and seventh in Test by the ICC.
Governing Body
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) looks after all first-class and Test cricket played by the Pakistan cricket team. PCB was admitted in July 1953 to the International Cricket Council. The board is been run by former cricketers, professional administrators, and trustees, who are often respected, businessmen.
The Board runs a network of teams that is mostly sponsored by corporations, banks, city associations, and clubs which also includes advertisement, broadcast rights, and internet partners.
Pakistan Team Jersey
The team wears a white cricket uniform with an optional sweater with a green and gold V-neck for use in cold weather in Test matches. The team’s official sponsors are Pepsi & Junaid Jamshed since the 1990s and sister brand Lay’s. The Pakistan Cricket star is deployed on the left in test cricket.
The helmets are colored green. Boom Boom Cricket has signed a deal with PCB in April 2010 to be the kit sponsors of the Pakistan team; the deal ended in the 2012 Asia Cup. Currently, the team is sponsored by AJ Sports.
Pakistan’s One Day and Twenty 20 kits keep changing every year as the team wears its green color in various shades.
